Rob, you have either...

...made love to this song several times already, or you are going to start. Enjoy.

Black Pacific

One day Pennywise's singer decided he wanted to write songs with more pop and tour a lot less than the rest of his bandmates, so he left and started his own deal called Black Pacific.

It sounds like Pennywise + Good Charlotte production; while reading that probably made you cringe, it actually works pretty well.

The last few Pennywise albums had songs like BP's which didn't really fit. This way, PW can hopefully get back to their roots (with Zoli from Ignite fronting!!!) and Jim can create his own thing on the side...2x the music for the rest of us! Check it out below.

P.S. Awesome song below Rob; I love the part in the video where he is fighting upside down between the amp and the ceiling

Sunday Working

Needed some air-y music to get me through this afternoon, thankfully I found a pretty good bad with two solid albums. Apparently it is Jason Schwartzman's solo project (he is the drummer from Phantom Planet and in all those Wes Anderson movies). Not bad at all...

Mousetrap

Sweet deadmau5 song. 100% buildup, but really worth it!

Southeast Engine

My friend's favorite hometown band.

Sounds like: If the Black Keys and Strokes made babies. The Trendometer says they should be more popular than they are.

P.S. Rob, how do you always catch drumsticks and get setlists???

Soothing For My Swollen Brain

Hurting a little after the most epic concert I have ever been to. 3 rows back for Pinkerton was amazing, and I even got a drum stick to cap the night off. Granted, I am paying for going to two concerts in a row on week nights.

Anyways, this is some decent late night driving, hangover, whatever music...

I'm Loosing My Mind

So the first Weezer concert last night was pretty epic, they played blue straight through and started by working retrospective from Hurley back to 1994. Earlier in the day I wanted to know who was opening and saw that Good Coast was playing on the west coast (I'll post some of their stuff later this week, I have liked them for a while) and Free Energy for east coast shows. I was excited to hear a new band that was opening for Weezer as past experiences have shown I usually like their stuff. I get about half way through the set and am thinking this is decent stuff and then my biggest fear happened... It was a band I already knew. Oh well, it was just an EP I got 2 years ago. Their new stuff is kinda catchy, worth a listen.

Band: Free Energy
Album: Stuck On Nothing

Hook: Something In Common (off the EP)
Line: Bang Pop
Sinker: Whatever... all their songs are the same, not bad, just the same

Favorites from newest BR album

ROCK:

CHILL:

This song is AWESOME

Kanye 3some

Sometimes the Radio is Good

Bad Religion Almost Acoustic Performace

Gets really good a couple songs in once they get into it. Fun Fact: BR was the first band to plug in at KROQ Acoustic Xmas, causing them to add the "almost" to the title.

Matt & Kim

Favorite from new album:

Danger Mouse

Yep, Danger Mouse had another collaboration this year!! It is a slower album, inspired, unfortunately, by the death of a friend.

My favorite is track two:

Feeling Hungry

Rainy/snowy weather? Need to feel happier? Sick of your Vampire Weekend/Postal Service tracks?

Artist: Hungry Kids Of Hungary
Album: Escapades

Hook: Scattered Diamonds
Line: Let You Down
Sinker: The Window Shopper

Finding Some Clues In My Quest

I am finding there is hope out there and it is coming in little nuggets of audio goodness. Thankfully this is making my life easy as I now have material for the next few days.

While poking around the murky stew of iTunes "other users bought.." I found a catchy riff and thought it might be up my ally. I ended up buying the album and was happily tapping my foot to it all the way until track 8! Unfortunately, I already had this track and thus this music was not uncharted territory for me. Looking at the bright side of things I only had track 8 and now have the full album to enjoy.

Anticipating the Strokes New Album

I was wondering what was going on with The Strokes as of late, I have been quite bored with all but a few tracks from First Impressions... I stumbled across Julian Casablancas' solo project. Pretty great stuff.
